Every fourth participant is a girl

In 14 days, Odder Cykel Klub will host the Tour de Himmelfart for the 17th time. And once again, the number of participants is approx of 750 participating riders. However, the gender distribution this year is somewhat different than before, where as many as 194 of the participants are girls. Which corresponds to approx 25% of the participants. A fantastic development the girls’ fields have achieved in recent years, where 10 years ago they only accounted for about 10% of the participants.

It is not only the U19P class that has experienced a nice improvement in the field size, and sets a new record. Also in the U13P class it has been a great progress. Here are as many as 25 riders to start, which is also a new record for this class.

Many foreign riders
There will be plenty of foreign riders in all classes, so there will be plenty to look forward to for the Danish girls if they are to try to pull home a Danish victory at this year’s Tour de Himmelfart. Out of the 194 girl riders, the 45 riders come from Denmark, while the remaining 149 riders come from the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Estonia and Finland.
